POST DAY: Sunday November 13th, 3:30 AM CST
Hello there again! Now I know I am posting this late however I have been so exhausted after each day that I literally have no energy to type, edit and post the blog. But nevertheless, I am following through because I want to really want to hare my experiences with everyone no matter how tired I am at the end of the day. Anyways, enough rambling.
The last day of Chiang Mai was my favorite and that is simply because we went shopping at Thailand’s finest silk, textile, jade and silver stores/factories. These four stores all stood right next to each other down one street. In each store you had the workers working on the pieces and then you would walk into the main store. The first store we went into was the silver store named P. Collection and let me tell you! It was extremely shiny and pretty and I wanted to buy every single piece in that store. All the silver in that
store was handmade and every single crystal, gem or rock used in the final product was locally sources. I bought several pieces as I know purchasing high end sterling silver back home would cost a pretty penny. The store had everything in it from bracelets to rings to teas sets and statues. I was overwhelmed and in shock by this place that I spent most of my time and money here. The next shop I went into was the jade shop. Again, another beautiful jewelry store. All the different shades of jades were amazing. The last store I went into was the silk store and this store as well had beautiful pieces. All the different colors and patterns captured me. The workers in the factories were also amazing to see. They had displays on how they extract the silk from the silkworm. It then goes through many processes to be used to make clothes. I also bought several pieces form here. I swear if I had more time and money (and room in my suitcase) would have bought way more. Its amazing to see all the craftmanship from each store and the skills they have perfected over the years.
After the shopping centers we headed to Phuket, our last stop on this trip. Once again, this plane ride only took a little over an hour. It nice to know that traveling within Thailand is quick simple. I would come here and stay much longer and just fly to each location explore mor of the eastern side of Thailand. Arriving in Phuket felt like we were welcomed with relaxation and parting. The from our drive to the hotel we say nothing but beaches, tourist, elephants, and beautiful blue water. After on the go the whole trip, I was looking forward to relaxing on the beach the next 3 days. Once I got all my belongings into the hotel, I went exploring with some people. First, we stopped and eat at a restaurant no more that 20 feet from our hotel. I had the Shrimp Pad Thai and it was definitely some of the best pad thai I have ever had. After the pad thai, we took a walk around the area and found that we were minutes away from Bangla Road. And let me tell you, this is definitely the place to be if you love to party, drink and have an endless number of unforgettable memories throughout the night. Let me explain. On this road alone, they had:
Bar after bar with really cheap drinks and people trying to get you into their establishment to drink (like Miami beach)
So many bars had poles with dancers just dancing on the pole in the smallest outfit possible
Kathoey’s all over up and down the street just waiting for someone, men, to come pick them up. Don’t know what Kathoey’s are, I encourage you to look it up. Ill say this, in person you can sometimes not tell the difference. They do great work on themselves.
People advertising Ping Pong shows… again I encourage you to look it up. Really wish I went to go see one. Ill come back and go see one.
Major clubs – Illuzion, Sugar Club, Seduction, and like 5+ more. All of them were crowded but everyone was free enter. Very much a good ass time if you want a very high beat, strobe light, sweaty club
Last but not least weed stands. Literally everywhere (and not just here everywhere in Thailand it is easily accessible)
I can keep going on about what else was on this street, but I think you get the point. I LOVE this road and it was never a dull moment. Right before getting to the road, they had all the food stands and right after the road was the beautiful white sand beach. The night we arrive, Phuket was celebrating the festiva
l of lights, so we were able to see lanterns in the sky and krathongs in the water. The night went on like so, exploring, partying, and drinking. Very nice way to start the end of the trip.
Here are some images of how silk is made:
